Child Extended Day Treatment

The Extended Day Treatment program for children and adolescents is particularly helpful for individuals with special needs who are in foster care.

This special program, funded in part by the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, supports children and adolescents who have emotional or behavioral health issues that put them at risk of needing psychiatric residential or inpatient care.

Natchaug Hospital’s Extended Day Treatment Program can help. Extended Day Treatment gives school-age children the opportunity to improve social skills while receiving psychological care. The program, funded in part by the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, supports children and adolescents who have emotional or behavioral health issues that put them at risk of needing psychiatric residential or inpatient care. Extended day treatment, which is held after-school or in the mornings during the summer or on school holidays, includes clinical and educational group sessions, family therapy, community outings, team-building activities and volunteer projects. Transportation to and from the program is available.
